The Bar Kokhba caves were made in preperation for a second Jewish attempt to rebel against the Romans, which took place in the years 132-135 CE.
The second rebelleion ended also with a defeat, and it was the last Jewish attempt to achieve independance in the Holy Land in antiquity.
After crawling in one of the hiding caves of these Jewish rebels, you finally realise why this region is called “The Holey land :-)”
