Caesarea’s ancient port was truly a spectacular building project, the biggest man made port in its time!.
Covering 50 acres, the port could hold 100 Roman cargo boats.
It gradually sank in the Byzantine period but was still in ue by the Crusaders.
Today most of the port is beneath sea level, or filled up by sand.
