The Carmel fire tragedy monument marks the “Carmel Disaster” (“אסון הכרמל”) which occured on December 2nd 2010.
A forest fire bursting around 11:00 consumed much of the forest in this region.
While clreaing a local prison, a bus of mostly prison staff was caught in the fire, and all died.
The total death toll caused by this fire was 44, making it the biggest fire tragedy in the history of Israel.
