Geisser Tour, Summer 2017

June 23 (SAT)

15:00: BA0165 – Arrival. WELCOME TO ISRAEL!. Meeting your guide (Edan Geva) you head north for a few days, and pending and time and energy, make a stop at Roman era Metropolis Caesarea  .

June 24 (SUN)

The first day will be devoted to exploring the northern Western tip of Israel. Taking the cable car into Rosh Hanikra Grottoes  , we explore natural and man made cavaties in unique geological formations.

Next we drive to Akko  , where we learn about this significant medieval city. The return to Haifa  can be done by a commercial sail on the Mediterranean.

June 25 (MON)

Crossing the lower Galilee, the day is devoted mostly to Jewish Rabbinical history. At Beth Shearim we crawl into Roman era catacombs and learn about a unique ancient Jewish Necropolis.

Nearby, in Sepphoris , we learn about R. Yehudah Hanasi and the formation of the MISHNA in Late Antiquity. If time and will permits, we can also visit Nazareth   and learn about Christian history in the Holy Land.

June 26 (TUE)

A day devoted to sites around the Sea of Galilee will include sites like Capernaum Magdala Ancient Tiberias , and possibly a hike to the fantastic remains of Sussita 

Lunch can be at the fish restaurant of Ein-Gev, Where Edan grew up, and can present some childhood memories.

June 27 (WED)

The day will start with ascending to the top of the Golan Heights , to Mt. Bental  . We can then go for an ATV tour in the Golan Heights , near the Syrin border, and after lunch, drive along Druze  villages down to the sources of the Jordan river, where those who want can Kayak  on Jordan river!.

June 28 (THUR)

Our last day of exploring the north will combine a drive along the border with Lebanon and possibly a hike along the Ayun Stream , and later visit the former Jewish Kabbalah center at Safed   .

June 29 (FRI)

Heading to Tel-Aviv for the Week-end, we can possibly send the kids throught the Caesarea Aquaduct tunnel (Mei Kedem ), and possibly set for them a Powered Parachute Flight near Caesarea!

June 30 (SAT)

A Free day in Tel-Aviv to appreciate the beach and rest a bit!. Shabbath Shalom 🙂

July 1 (SUN)

A day tour of Jaffa and Tel-Aviv will begin with a visit to the Independence Hall  on Rothschild Boulevard , and continue to Jaffa , and the nearby Flea Market  .

After lunch we could continue Rabin Assassination site  and a visit to the Palmach Museum

July 2 (MON)

Departing Tel-Aviv early to beat the traffic and the hear we cross the Negev and drive down to Masada  , after which we go for a swim at the Dead Sea  and have lunch.

On our way to Jerusalem we stop to view the caves where the famous Dead SEa Scrolls were found (Qumran ), and reaching Jerusalem towards the afternoon, we greet it from the beautiful Mount of Olives Viewpoint . WELCOME TO JERUSALEM!

July 3 (TUE)

Your first day in Jerusalem, with Danny as the guide, will focus on the Biblical origin of the city. We will visit the City of David  , assess remains of King David’s Palace , and possibly walk along Hezekiah’s Tunnel  , to the Pool of Siloam  

We then continue into the Jewish Quarter , and after lunch explore some its sites, as well as the old ciy famous market (the Suq ).

July 4 (WED)

This day will focus on the New Westwen side of Jerusalem. It will start with a visit to the National Memorial of the Holocaust (“Yad Vashem”  ) and will continue to some of the highlights of the Israel Museum  . In the afternoon we could also join a tour of the Western Wall tunnels  .

July 5 (THUR)

Eager to learn a bit about the vicinity of Jerusalem, we head today to “Samson Land”, the low hill country side west of Jerusalem.

We learn about biblical era conflicts at Beth Shemesh  and Tel Lachish , and combine with modern era wars by a drive along the “Burma Road”  .  We could combine the tour also with a visit to a local winery.

July 6 (FRI) 

The last day of the tour will presents Jerusalem Markets and neighborhoods on Friday. We start with a stroll on  Mahane Yehudah Market   , and witness the hustle and bustle of Friday shopping before Shabbath.

Next we drive along Mea Shearim  and learn about the Ultra-Orthodox Jews and their unique lifestyle.

For dinner you can join a Jewish Friday dinner (“Shabbath of a life time“).
