Penzo Tour Plan, Oct-Nov 2017

Oct 24 (TUE)

Our first day of Touring Israel will start with a tour of Tel-Aviv and Jaffa. We will visit the Independence Hall , on Rothschild Boulevard , and then head to Jaffa  and the Flea Market   where we can also have a lunch break.

We will end the day with a visit the to Rabin Assassination site  and Sarona .

Oct 25 (WED)

Heading south, we will drive along historical sites of Beer-Sheva  , and then continue into the wilderness, passing by Ein Avdat, and stoping at the ancient Nabatean caravanserai of Avdat .

Reaching Mitzpe Ramon  in the afternoon we will visit the Ramon Crater Visitors Center , and possibly go for night Jeep tour in Ramon Crater .

Oct 26 (THUR)

Devoting today to the area of the Dead Sea, we have a 2 hours drive to Masada  , driving by the presumed location of Sodom, and Ein Bokek.

After Masada head for a swim at the Dead Sea , and after lunch we drive along the nature reserve of Ein Gedi , and stop to view the caves where the famous Dead Sea Scrolls were found (Qumran ). Passing by Nebi Musa, and possibly visiting it, in the afternoon we reach Jerusalem and greet it from Mount of Olives Viewpoint .

Oct 27 (FRI)

Our first day in Jerusalem will be devoted to exploring its Markets on Friday, namely the Mahane Yehudah Market    and Ultra Orthodox neighborhood of Mea Shearim 

We could complete the day by visiting Holy Christian sites on Mount of Olives, namely Chapel of the Ascension  and Garden of Gethsemane .

Oct 28 (SAT)

Saturday will be used for exploring sites in the West Bank, namely Bethlehem , the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron Herodium  , and possibly also Jericho .

Oct 29 (SUN)

Trying to figure out the essence of Jerusalem, we start with exploring “Where it all began” – the City of David  . We start at its visitors’ center, and move on by possible remains of King David’s Palace , and then descend down by Warren’s shaft   to Hezekiah’s Tunnel   ending at the Pool of Siloam  .

We then return to the Old City, and after a lunch break and a visit to the Western wall  , we explore parts of the Via Dolorosa  and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre  .

Oct 30 (MON)

The last day in Jerusalem will be devoted to its western new City. We start with a visit the the National Holocaust Memorial, “Yad Vashem”  .

We could possibly visit also the Herzl Museum  at Mount Herzl , and then review some of the highlits of the Israel Museum  .

If time and will permits, we can also visit Ein Karem

Oct 31 (TUE)

Heading north, we stop for a view of Saint George Monastery  

We then drive up the Jordan valley and explore the vast ruins of ancient Beit She’an , as well as its neighboring sites, the Beth Alpha  ancient and mysterious Synagogue mosaic floor, and the medieval castle of Belvoir .

Nov 1 (WED)

Our first site will be the top of Mount Tabor , beleived by most Christians to be the site of the “Transfiguration”.  

We then continue to Biblical Megiddo  famed also for being equote with “Ammargeddon”.

Next we will Drive into Nazareth  , have a brief visit to Sepphoris , and at the end of the day visit also the “Wedding Church” in Cana .

Nov 2 (THUR)

We start with a visit to the ingoing excavations at Ancient Tiberias , and continue to the significant Christian site of Tabgha and Capernaum 

We then drive on the edges of the Golan Heights , cross the Jordan river, and head up to visit Safed  .

Nov 3 (FRI)

Heading back to Tel-Aviv, we visit the significant medieval remains of Akko  , pass by the Bahaian Terraced Gardens  in Haifa , and explore the ancient Metropolis of Caesarea  

Passing by Netanya, we return to Tel-Aviv  for the last two nights.

Nov 4 (SAT)

The Saturday can be reserved as a free day, or be used for touring ancient Ashkelon  and sites around the border with Gaza, such as Sderot  and the 1948 battle site at Yad Mordechai . We could also visit Bat Yam on that day.

Nov 5 (SUN)

Our last day will be deovted to the Biblical sites and battle sites in the Low hill country sites – the Shfelah.

We start with a visit to Tel Lachish , continue to David vs. Goliath Battle site,  Beth Shemesh , and a drive along the “Burma Road”  .
