“Al-Azhar” park was created in 1984 over a 500 year old dump site of Cairo.
It was funded by Aga Khan IV , a descendant of the Fatimid Imam-Caliphs who founded Cairo in 969 CE.
The park functions as the main “green lounge” of Cairo, and attracts thousands of visitors every day.
