The new visitor center of Caesarea opened in 2019. It is located in three of the original Herodian halls that supported the main Temple of the city.
The first hall exhibits many pottery shards lined up to echo the political, religious and cultural changes in Caesarea over the years. At its end, a computer generated graphic presentation presents the plan of the city in different periods.
In the second hall a 15 minutes’ movie presents Heord’s political intrigues mixed with his vision of building Caesarea.
The third hall a presentation of various artifacts from different periods demonstrates the long and rich hisotry of this unique ancient site.
