IL01: Jerusalem Highlights

We start the day  at the  Mount of Olives viewpoint  for a view and a review of the city’s history. Next we descend to the Garden of Gethsemane , and crossing the kidron valley we enter the Old City  and join the “Via Dolorosa” ,  walking through the streets of the old city up to the  Holy Sepulchre  . After a lunch + possible shopping break in the market of the Old City , we continue to the Jewish Quarter  and appreciate its synagogues and archaeological finds, including a visit to the Western wall  . If there is time and desire,  we can also go to a view towards Bethlehem  from

IL02: Jaffa and Tel-Aviv

An urban tour showing Jaffa and its antiquities, and the development of Tel-Aviv. We start with a stroll in the alleys of Old Jaffa , appreciating several art and crafts galleries (e.g.  Ilana Goor , Ben-Zion Ymenite Jewelry Workshop , and Adina Plastelina  ).  Passing through the Christian sites, we can appreciate the Home of Simon the Tanner, and St. Peter’s Church . Descending to the port itself, we can have some coffee while viewing the Andromeda rock, and then advance to the Flea Market  . By Car we can then proceed into Tel-Aviv, and explore sites like Neve Tzedek , Rothschild Boulevard , and Nahalat Binyamin market , ending at Rabin Assasination site . .

IL03: Masada and the Dead Sea

Today we are headed to one of the hottest region in the Israel – the shores of the Dead Sea. Driving to its southern part we first visit the famous site of Masada  , and appreciate its fantastic story and archaeological remains. We then continue to Ein-Gedi , with an optional hike to its waterfalls. Combining a lunch break + an optional visit to AHAVA factory store  (Dead Sea Cosmetics company), we end with a bath at the Dead Sea  itself. Feeling younger and happier, we head back. If time and permits we could also visit, on the way back, the site of the

IL04: Holy Christian Sites in the Galilee

Heading towards Nazareth , we first visit Church of Annunciation  and  stroll along the local city market up to S. Gabriel church  . Nearby we can visit the “Wedding church” in Cana , and then head towards the Sea of Galilee and stop for a lunch in one of the fish restaurants. Happily fed we can continue to visit Capernaum  and the nearby Mt. of Beatitudes  and\or Tabgha, site of the Church of the Multiplication of Loaves and fishes  as well as Peter’s Primacy church . If time permits, we can also stop at  ”Yardenit“  for a baptism ceremony at the Jordan river , or ascend to the top of Mount Tabor  and visit the Catholic

IL05: Splendors of Caesarea and the Carmel

  Caesarea  was founded some 2000 years ago by King Herod, and for over a millenia was the most important port city in the Holy Land. Appreciating its high-techi visitors center, we will stroll among the rich finds from Roman, Byzantine, and Crusaders times. We then ascend up to the Carmel Mountains to visit and learn about the interesting Druze  minority also by having a Druze lunch. We could also visit the l “Muhraka” , the traditional site of the battle between Elijah and the prophets of Ba’al, and end with a stroll in the German colony in Haifa, viewing from the different angles the

IL06: Jewish Centers in the Galilee and Golan

An excursion to the north, following Jewish central sites of late antiquity: Caesarea  , Beth Shearim ,  and Sanhedrin centers at Sepphoris , and Tiberias. The tour can also include an extension of a second day tour to sites like Safed ,  Beth Alpha, Hamat Tiberias , and Capernaum ,  and ascend to the  Golan Heights   to explore Gamla , and Umm el-Kanatir . . . .

IL07: To Bethlehem and Herodium

Bethlehem is the hometown of King David, but is more known in Christianity to be the birth place of Jesus. Hiring a palestinian guide, you will be taken into Bethlehem and to the  Church of the Nativity ,where Jesus was born by an old local tradition. We then continue to  Herodium   , a fortified hilltop built by king Herod in the first century BCE, and ultimately became his burial site. We will appreciate the new visitors center, the unique finds, and the underground caves made by Jewish Rebels some 2000 years ago. Nearby we can have lunch in a nice vegeterian restaurant (at Gavna), and also experience a
