Drive to Mount of Olives Viewpoint  for introuction and “Shecheyanu” blessing, check-in,  Barbecue lunch at the Armenian Quarter , followed by a walk along the Jewish Quarter  to the Western wall  ; Tour of the Western Wall tunnels  .

May 20 (FRI)

city-of-davidTo Where it all began! – the City of David  : review King David’s Palace ;  Area G  Warren’s shaft  Canaanite Tunnel Hezekiah’s Tunnel  ; and the Pool of Siloam  ; Walk up the  Herodian Drainage Channel  to the Southern Wall Archaeological Park   and Davidson Center .

Lunch break in Mahane Yehudah Market   and a drive along the ultra orthodox neighborhood of Mea Sheaim . Gutten Shabesh!

Optional evening stroll on Mamilla Pedestrian Mall  and\or Ben Yehudah Street  .

holy sepulchre easter 2013Getting the hands dirty at the Temple Mount Debris Sifting Project  , and then experiencing the old City from a Christian perspective by a visit to the Garden of Gethsemane , a walk along the Via Dolorosa , and a study of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre  .

May 23 (MON)

bar mitzvahA morning visit to the Western wall   to witness Bar-Mitzah parties; followed by an exploration of the Jewish Quarter : the Temple Institute , the Burnt House , and the Cardo .

After a lunch break continue with a guided review of the Archaeological Wing  at the Israel Museum  , including the “Shrine of the Book” Model of the Second Temple  and the Jewish Art and Life Wing .

sepphoris-1Today we review the significant Biblical site of Megiddo , and Rabbinical era centers of Beth Shearim  and Sepphoris  (where the Mishna was codified!).

sea of galileeHistory and Beauty around the Sea of Galilee: The recently found synagogue at Magdala Capernaum ; and Bethsaida .

Lunch break in the Fish restaurant of Kibbutz Ein-Gev followed by a Sail on the Sea of Galilee  to Tiberias, ending with a tour of Ancient Tiberias Modern Tiberias , and monuments such as the “Tomb of Maimonides” .

Heading towards Tel-Aviv for Shabbath, we make one stop at Caesarea  .

In Tel-Aviv  we first visit historical site of Independence Hall  and then stroll in the Carmel Market  , Nahalat Binyamin Arts and Crafts Fair  , and continue to a review of ancient Jaffa .

In the late afternoon we head to the Samaritan Holon Community  to watch their unique Friday prayers (no photos please)
