Dendera Temple

Dendera is one the best preserved temple complexes in Egypt from Pharonic times. It was in use from the time of Pepi I (c. 2500 BCE) and up to Hellenistic period. Monuments were added at the site also in Roman and Byzantine times.

The main temple is “Hathor Temple” which was constructed in the Middle Kingdom and was in use up to Roman times, with much art work of Cleopatra VII, and her son Ptolemy XV philopater, who was fathered by Julius Caesar.

One relief is famous to be  explained as showing a lightbulb. In reality it is depicting a snake against a pillar.
