Located on the mouth of the Delta of the Nile, Memphis was the capital of Pharonic Egypt up until to Roman Times. 

The site’s main museum is Mit Rahina Museum which is known, among others, for its colossal statue of Ramses II and the “Alabaster Sphinx.

In 2006 another Museum was inagurated at the site, devoted to Imhotep .

But Memphis’ main attractions are at Saqqara , the ancient necropolis of Memphis. Saqqara bears noumerous pyramids, including the Step Pyramid of Djoser , The Unas Pyramid , the Teti Pyramid , and the Saqqara Serapuem .
