Montaza Palace

Montaza Palace is a palace complex in Montaza district of Alexandria, built in 1892 by Khadive Abbas II, the last ruler of the Muhamad Ali dynasty. It functioned as his hunting lodge and residence of his companions. In 1932 it was extended by King Fuad I, and functioned as his summer palace. Its desgin combines Ottoman and Florentine styles. 

The complex was renovatd by president Anwar El-Sadat, and was used also by president Hosni Mubarak. 

Today the palace functions as a museum of Muhamad Ali and his dynasty, and its gardens are open to the public.
