Simon the Tanner Monastery

Located near the main garbage dumb of Cairo, Saint Simon (Known also as “Saint Samaan”) monastery is commemorating “Simon the Shoemaker” who lived in the 10th century CE, during a period of a devastating plague.

According to local tradition, Saint Simon made the Mokattam mountain move.
