Geographical Setting

Day 1 – Wednesday – February 18th, 2015 

Departure from JFK airport.


Day 2 – Thursday – February 19th, 2015

Pending our time of arrival, we will visit ancient Jaffa , including the house of Simon the Tanner.

before dark, we enjoy a short tour of Tel-Aviv .

Day 3 – Friday – February 20th, 2015

caesarea aquaduct sWe start the day visiting Independence Hall , where the declaration of the state of Israel was made.

Driving along the coast we head t0 Caesarea , Roman era Metropolis, exploring its known and less known sites.

Day 4 – Saturday – February 21st, 2015

megiddo stablesHeading north, we see Megiddo , in the valley of Armageddon and ascend to the Carmel to dine in a Druze  village.

We then explore the Roman era catacombs and town of Beth Shearim , before heading to our hotel next to the Sea of Galilee.

Day 5 – Sunday – February 22nd, 2015

hamath tiberiasExplore Ancient Tiberias , and the Talmudic synagogue of Hamat Tiberias .

Head up to Nazareth , and visit the Church of Annunciation Synagogue church  and new first century finds.

Continue to  Roman city Sepphoris , and appreciate its wealth of mosaic floors.

If time permits, visit the Wedding church at Cana .

On the way back take an oppurtunity to relax at the hot springs of Hamat Gader.

Day 6 – Monday – February 23rd, 2015

sea of galileeVisit the 1st century Sea of Galilee Boat  in Kibbutz Ginosar.

Sail on the Sea of Galilee with Messianic musician Dani Carmel to Capernaum .

Learn about the site, and enjoy a local fish restaurant, and then ascend to the Golan Heights , where we view important battle sites in antiquity and modern times at  Gamla  and Mt. Bental  .

On the way back we stop at the Golan heights winery.

Day 7 – Tuesday – February 24th, 2015

beth shean theatreAn early departure takes us first to Beit She’an , Biblical city devloping to a metropolis in Classical times, and devasted by an earth quake in 749 CE.

Nearby we visit possible site of Aenon near Salim  (John 3:23) and have lunch in Tirat Zvi, Danny’s childhood kibbutz.

We continue along the Jordan valley and visit the likely site of John’s baptisms – El-Maghtas / Qasr el-Yahud) .

We spend the night in the beautiful kibbutz of Ein Gedi next to the Dead Sea.

Day 8 – Wednesday – February 25th, 2015

masada cable carA morning visit to Masada , before the crowds and the heat, will enable to enjoy this fantastic site of great 2000 year old drama, complemeneted with a visit to the Masada Museum .

We then enjoy a swim at the Dead Sea at Ein Gedi Spa, and provide an optional tour of Ein-Gedi Botanical Gardens .

Day 9 – Thursday – February 26th, 2015.

qumranIn the morning we visit the Ein-Gedi ancient Synagogue , where Danny excavated, and then continue to Qumran , site famous for the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls.

Heading up to Jerusalem, we stop on the way at the Good Samaritan Inn  , and we reach and greet Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives Viewpoint .

We then visit the Church of the Holy Sepulchre   and walk parts of the Via Dolorosa .

Day 10 – Friday – February 27th, 2015

western-wall2s“Getting to the bottom of it” we explore the City of David  including a walk through Hezekiah’s Tunnel 
and a visit to the Pool of Siloam  . We then experience the Southern Wall Archaeological Park   and stop at the Western wall  .

After a lunch break in the Jewish Quarter we tour the Broad Wall   and the Cardo , and continue to Mount Zion to see King David’s Tomb Mark on Mount Zion  and traditional site of the Last supper (Cenacle ).

Day 11 – Saturday – February 28th, 2015

israel museum arcWe begin the day at the Israel Museum , focusing on the  Model of the Second Temple , “Shrine of the Book”  and the  Archaeological Wing .

We then drive to Herodium   and learn about the extraordinary discovery of the possible tomb of King Herod.

We end the day with an optional tour to Church of Nativity  in Bethlehem .

Day 12 – Sunday – March 1st, 2015

yad vashemThe last day is reserved for some leisure time to possible shop in the Old city market (Suq ), visit the Garden Tomb  and/or “Yad Vashem” .

Towards noon we head to the airport, stopping Khirbet Qeiyafa  a newly excavated site near the David vs. Goliath battle site, with much importance on the field of Biblical Archaeology.

We end with a farewll  Middle Eastern style dinner together followed by ransfer to Airport to a midnight Departure.
