Rothberg Internat ional School
Department of Summer Courses
and Special Academic Programs

To Whom It May Concern,
My name is Keri Rosenbluh, and I direct the Department of Summer Courses and Special Programs for the Rothberg International School, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. It is my pleasure to have this opportunity to write a letter of recommendation on behalf of Mr. Danny Herman, with whom I have had the honor of working for two academic years. Mr. Herman teaches a summer course for my Department entitled “Jerusalem through the Ages: History and Geography.” This course is unique amongst the rest of our summer courses in that it uses the city of Jerusalem as its textbook, drawing students beyond the classroom walls and into the actual archaeological and historical sites that tell the history of this wondrous city.

Mr. Herman’s course brings the textbook to a 3-dimensional level, and offers the students an experience they cannot find anywhere else in the world. The challenge in this course lies in preserving its academic nature, given its unconventional framework. Being that students achieve an official academic transcript from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem upon conclusion of the course, it is of utmost importance that the instructor maintains an academic focus while guiding our students through their unforgettable ‘touring’ experience. Mr. Herman was hired to teach this course in July 2011, replacing the previous instructor of approximately 20 years, who had retired that same year. Needless to say, Mr. Herman had big shoes to fill. I say here with utmost sincerity that Mr. Herman exceeded our highest expectations, not only maintaining a superior academic level throughout the course, but also rejuvenating the course agenda by contributing his own wealth of professional and academic expertise. Student evaluations referred to Mr. Herman’s summer course as “profound” and “invigorating,” labeling him as an “extremely inspiring instructor” who guided them through a “life-enriching experience.”

In addition to instructing our summer course, I have employed Mr. Herman to conduct single and multiple-day academic tours within the framework of various special academic programs hosted by my Department at the Rothberg International School. All such programs involve the participation of students and faculty from leading Universities and Colleges worldwide. Across the board, these programs have tremendously valued Mr. Herman’s contribution, and many of the returning programs have requested Mr. Herman’s participation once again.

Beyond his academic and guiding capabilities, I find it no less important to mention Mr. Herman’s administrative strengths. I have found him to be punctual, extremely organized, communicative and capable of meeting deadlines without fail, which only further contributes to the success of his programming with my Department. In concluding, I would like to express without doubt that Mr. Danny Herman will serve as a true asset to any organization or institution that has the honor of employing him. His dedication, motivation, and passion for his work are commendable, and here at the Rothberg International School we consider ourselves blessed to have him aboard. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Most Sincerely,
Keri Rosenbluh
