Kikar Kedumim (from Hebrew: Square of ancient times) is the the main plaza of Old Jaffa, next to Ramses II’s Gate Garden and St. Peter’s Catholic church. The square houses several souvenir shops and eateries.
Kikar Kedumim Visitor Center (“Jaffa Tales”)
Beneath the plaza, a visitor center offers a unique presentation of the antiquities discovered here in the 1950s. The antiquities, mostly from the Roman period, are presented through a narrating hologram of “Yehudah, the Agoranomos of Roman Jaffa.” The character is based on an inscription bearing his name and title, found at the site. The experience is both entertaining, informative, and presents the less known period of Old Jaffa, in Roman times.
A visit to the site can be combined with a guided day tour to Jaffa and Tel-Aviv.
