Perched on a hill over Jaffa’s old port, the Greek-Orthodox church of Archangel Michael is about 500 years old, the oldest church in Jaffa. It used to include an inn for eastern Orthodox pilgrims, upon their arrival to the Holy Land at Jaffa port. Today, the church serves a small local community and is open is open on Saturday and Sunday for services. It’s interior is designed in the traditional fashion of Greek-Orthodox churches and is highly ornate. Its eastern wall is worth noting for being decorated with a big mural depicting the Holy Land in Greek-Byzantine style.
A visit to the site can be combined with a guided day tour to Jaffa and Tel-Aviv.
