May 12 (Fri)

flight to israelWelcome to Israel! 🙂 Upon arrival (VIP Service), we will head to Jerusalem, where we check in.

If time and will permits, we will join the Catholic Friday Afternoon procession along the Via Dolorosa , and \ or go to experience the Jewish Mahane Yehudah Market  and Mea Shearim  on Friday, before Shabbath.

May 13 (SAT)

MOUNT OF OLIVES

We will head first to the famous Mount of Olives Viewpoint  and greet Jerusalem. We will then visit the Garden of Gethsemane ,  and continue to the pictouresque village Ein Karem , where we can appreciate a nich lunch, and the the local church related to the childhood of John the Baptist (John Baharim Church ).

We then head to the the Israel Museum   and peek it’s highlight, especially where the famous Dead Sea Scrolls are displayed (“Shrine of the Book” ), the highlights of the Archaeological Wing , and a unique 1:50 scale model of Jerusalem in the time of Jesus (“Model of the Second Temple” )

May 14 (SUN)

holy sepulchre easter 2013Assembling all family members, today we head into the old city of Jerusalem and explore its iconic landmarks: Church of the Holy Sepulchre  Western wall  , its unique market (Suq ), and many more.

In the afternoon I will set for you a visit to the Church of Nativity   in Bethlehem .

May 15 (MON)

Dead Sea Jodie2Today is devoted to exploring the region of the Dead Sea, and especially see where the traditional Baptism site (qasr el-Yahud)  is, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found (Qumran ), Masada  , and ofcourse  – a swim at the Dead Sea !.

May 16 (TUE)

hezekiah tunnelWe can choose from a few options.

One is to explore the City of David  , “Where it all began”, and its underground tunnels, especially Warren’s shaft  , the Canaanite Tunnel Hezekiah’s Tunnel  Pool of Siloam  , and the Herodian Drainage Channel .

Another option is paying tribute to the memory of 6 millions Jews who perished in the Holocause by a visit to Nationl Holocaust Institute “Yad Vashem .

The third options driving down the “Samson Land” (the Shefelah) to learn and explore sites related to Samson, the Battle of David vs. Goliath, and other Biblical stories.

May 17 (WED)

church of annunciation nazarethChecking out and heading north, our first stop will be the impressive Abu-Gosh Crusaders period church , and the related site at Emmaus-Nicopolis . Later we drive to Nazareth  , have a good Arab style lunch, and explore its main attractions – Church of Annunciation  , the Synagogue church  and Mary’s Well . If time permits we can also visit the “Wedding church” at Cana .

May 18 (THUR)

atvTo have a better appreciation of the modern history and Geo-Politics of the northern frontier of Israel, we head up to the top of the Golan Heights . We view into Syria from the top of Mt. Bental  , and then go for an ATV tour along the Syrian Border .  Next we go to the “Golan Magic” Visitors Center , and if the youngsters want, we can also visit De Karina Chocolatiere  and\or one of the local wineries. On the way back we can visit famous ancient Jewish sites such as Gamla  or Umm el-Kanatir .

May 19 (FRI)

capernaum-2This day is devoted to a mix of Ancient Jewish and Christian sites around the Sea of Galilee: We start with a visit to ancient Judeo-Christian Capernaum  and continue to Mount of Beatitudes ,  Church of the Multiplication of Loaves and Fishes  and theChurch of the Primacy of Peter .

Next we head to lunch in a local fish restaurnt (Saint Peter’s fish any onw?..) in Tiberias , followed by a Sail on the Sea of Galilee  and\ or a visit to the unique disocvery of an ancient synagogue at  Magdala

May 20 (SAT)

akko wallsChecking out and heading towards Tel-Aviv we visit first Akko  , where we explore both the markets as well as the subterranean Knights Halls  underground. We later drive through Haifa  where we can appreciate the spectactular Bahaian Terraced Gardens ; and at Caesarea   we review its long and significant history, and appreciate its many remains, especially the aqueductPortHippo-StadiumHerods Palace, and the Theatre.

May 21 (SUN)

jaffa segwayOur last two days will be devoted to enjoy and tour Jaffa and Tel-Aviv. We will start the day with a two hour Segway tour of Jaffa , Neve Tzedek . We then continue to and up to Rothschild Boulevard  for lunch and a review of the historical site where the state of Israel was created – Independence Hall .

The afternoon will be free for shopping and a swim at the Mediteranean.

May 22 (MON)

luza samaritansThe last day can be devoted to  sites related to the establishment of the state of Israel. We start with going to the unique experience at the Palmach Museum  where we learn about the Jewish fights against the British in the 1940’s and later against the Arabs.

Next we drive to Nes Ziona to explore the 1948 Secret Bullet Factory (“Machon Ayalon”) . We continue driving along the 1948 “Burma Road”  that saved the Jews of Jerusalem in the was of Independance.

On the way back we could visit the unique Samaritan Holon Community .
