Following Processions in the Holy Sepulchre
Being the holiest site in the Christendom, daily processions take place in and around the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Following centuries old traditions and liturgy, it is fascinating to follow or join any of these ceremonies and walk with them along various holy spots. The Franciscans, on behalf of the Catholic Church are especially known for the “Good Friday” processions every Friday afternoon. Yet the other churches also lead processions and ceremonies that preserve each denomination’s special traditions. They are often led with special prayers, chanting and burning incense, and are a special spiritual and colorful experience.
