Remaliah Cisterns

remaliah cisternsA set of Cisterns carved in the marl rock, set to collect water of flash floods along Wadi Zin for the city of Avdat   and its agricultural hinterland.

The cisterns were probably created in the Byzantine period, some 1500 years ago, and some still function (!).
