The various underground tactical caves carved in the Shefelah region were made in preperation for a second Jewish attempt to rebel against the Romans, which occurred in the years 132-135 CE.
This second Jewish rebelleion against Rome ended also with a terrible defeat, and it was the last Jewish attempt to achieve independance in the Holy Land in antiquity.
- After crawling in one of the hiding caves of these Jewish rebels, you finally realise why this region is called “The Holey land :-)”.
