Beit Jimal is a Catholic monastery in the lower Judean mountains (Shephelah) near Beth Shemesh .
According to local tradition the site was the estate of R. Gamliel I, president of the Jewish Sanhedrin, and his tomb, together with the tomb of Saint Stephen and Saint Nicodemus, were uncovered at the site in 415 CE.
