“Deir Rafat” is a monastery in the Shefelah after a purchase of the area by the Catholic church in the 19th century. The monastery is known for its large Bronze sculpture of Mary as “Reginae Palaestinae” (=”Queen of Palestine”) placed in order protect the land from earthquakes. So far it seems to work..
Near the Monastery Artul family operates a local “Mony” winery and olive press.
