Weizmann Institute Visitors Center

Weizmann Institute of science is a world-renowned multidisciplinary research center in Rechovoth, 17 miles southeast of Tel-Aviv. Its state-of-the-art visitors center, opened in 2013, provides a great gateway to the institute’s activities and legacy.

History of Weizmann Institute

Weizmann Institute was founded in 1934 by a team led by Chaim Weizmann, a renowned scientist and leader in the Zionist movement. Weizmann led researches in Organic Chemistry up to 1949, when he was appointment as president of the of Israel. In his honor, on the same year the institute was named after him – the Weizmann Institute of science.

Today, the institute is a multidisciplinary research center for about 3,800 researchers, students, and staff. It is renowned for its innovative achievements at the forefront of science and technology. As of 2020, 6 Nobel prize winners and 3 Turig award winners are associated with the Institute.

The Levinson Visitors Center

weizman institute visitors centerOpened in 2013, the Levinson Visitors Center deploys cutting-edge interactive technology to match the innovative nature of the institute. The exhibits leverage the visitor’s natural curiosity in various scientific fields and concludes with a special multi-sensory presentation.

The Weizmann institute also invites youngsters to participate in various scientific experiments in its science garden. Spanning over 2 acres, the Clore Garden of Science offers 90 interactive exhibits that demonstrate various scientific principles in a fun and playful way.

Visiting the Weizmann Institute

The Visitors center is open Sunday to Thursday, 9:00-16:00. The Science park is open through the whole week. It is also possible to visit Chaim Weizman’s House, near the campus.

Any visit must be coordinated through the Institute’s public relations.

A visit to Weizmann Institute of Science can be combined with a guided day tour of Jaffa and Tel-Aviv.
