A large tomb complex above Hamat Tiberias believed to be the burial of Rabbi Me’ir “Baal Nanes” (“The Miracle Maker”), and two of his students (Somchus and R. Shimon son of Elazar). The Rabbi’s miraculous reputation is based on a Talmudic story describing how he saved his sister-in-law from the clutches of the Romans by a combination of subterfuge and uttering a single prayer: “God of Meir – answer me”. Being associated with a Rabbi of miracoulus powers, the site is a popular pilgrimage destination among religious Jews.
