Presenting “Gilgal Rephaim” on “The Watchman” Show

Rujm el hiri aerial“Gilgal Refaim” is the modern Hebrew name given to an enigmatic prehistorical site on the Golan Heights. It was first recorded by 19th century scholars, who recorded it by its Arabic name – Rujm el-Hiri (“stone heap of the wild cat.”) The site consists tens of thousands of stones forming a circular plan around a cave. The date and function of this site are unknown, but it is not the only strange prehistoric site on the Golan Heights. Many more forms of giant stones, set sometimes like a giant stone table or bed, can be found across the Golan Height. The Watchman representative Raj and I reviewed the site, and discussed its possible link to the Canaanite time giants recorded in the Bible.

Touring Gilgal Rephaim

Reaching the site is quite a challenge. Being in a military firing zone, it is only accessible only on the weekends, and only with an off-road vehicle. Nevertheless, there are several other locations where one can see Stone Tables. A large collection of such mysterious features can be seen, for instance, on the service road to Gamla national park.

Could one of them be an echo of the mass size bed of the Biblical giant Og?

“For only Og king of Bashan remained of the remnant of giants; behold his bedstead was a bedstead of iron; is it not in Rabbath of the children of Ammon? nine cubits was the length thereof, and four cubits the breadth of it, after the cubit of a man.” (Deut. 3:11)

P.S. While creating this page, I ran across another video production I once participated in, on the same site! This one I think dates to 2002. Take a look –
