Chris Group Tour plan, November 2022

Nov 12 (SAT)

Arrival, WELCOME TO ISRAEL! After passport control, collecting the luggage and PCR tests, the minibus will take you to the hotel in Tel-Aviv.

Nov 13 (SUN)

Upon receiving the negative PCR results our tour begins! Our first stop will be  old Jaffa, where we will stroll in its alleys and learn about the city’s special role in biblical history. Next, we head north, and reach Caesarea. This Roman-era metropolis was a major city in the Classical and Crusaders’ periods. Yielding important archaeological remains we will review its main finds and appreciate its new visitors center. After a lunch break we will continue to the pinnacle of Mount Carmel, where we will review the site commemorating the battle of Elijah and the Ba’al prophets. Crossing the Galilee, we will check in to the hotel in a Kibbutz by the Sea of Galilee.

Nov 14 (MON)

Heading to the northern edge of the state of Israel, next to the sources of the Jordan river we will hike through the ruins of biblical Tel Dan, where, among others, Jeroboam’s temple was uncovered. Nearby, in Caesarea Phllipi. we will review the rich remains of this site and its context to the event of Jesus appointing his prime disciple, calling him “Peter. Next we ascend up to the Golan Heights, the possible route of “the Road to Damascus” on which Paul converted to Christianity. We will drive along the border with Syria and enjoy a special lunch and hospitality experience in a Druze village.

Nov 15 (TUE)

Focusing on holy Christian sites around the Sea of Galilee, our day will start with a visit to Capernaum where Jesus lived for about three years. Above it, at the Mount of Beatitudes we will read an contemplate on the Jesus’ revolutionary messages, and at Magdala review the site relating to Mary Magdalene. After a lunch break and a possible sail on the Sea of Galilee we end the day with a baptism session at Yardenit.

Nov 16 (WED)

Checking out and heading to Jerusalem we will visit the “Wedding Church” in Cana, said to be at the spot where Jesus turned water into Wine. Nearby, at Nazareth we will visit the “Church of Annunciation”, Saint Joseph Church, and the Synagogue church. Both mark and sanctify the sites relating to Jesus’ childhood. After a lunch break we continue to Megiddo, major site from biblical times, yet identified also with “Armageddon”, the site of the one of the final battles at the end of the times. Upon reaching Jerusalem we will greet it from Mount of Olives view point “Shehecheyanu”!

Nov 17 (THUR)

Our exploration of Jerusalem will start with a tour of the contested Temple Mount. Here, according to Muslim tradition, Mohammad received the daily prayers. However, by Jewish belief it is the site of the bonding of Isaac, and the location of Solomon’s temple. Next we head into the City of David and review the significant discoveries made at the site relating to the earliest stages of Jerualem. After a lunch break we drive to visit Rachel’s Tomb and end the day with a visit to the national memorial of the Holocaust – Yad Vashem.

Nov 18 (FRI)

Completing our journey in Jerusalem we enter its old city, and join a tour of the Western Wall Tunnels. Next, we drive to Mahane Yudah Market to enjoy its special atmosphere on Friday, and try some of its authentic food. We end the day at the Garden Tomb, where you will join a local guide who will lead you through the site. In the evening you will also join a Jewish style Shabbath Dinner. Shabbath Shalom

Nov 19 (SAT)

A day tour of the Dead Sea region will start with a view of the caves where the famous Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered, and possibly visit the site of Qumran. Next, at Ein-Gedi Nature reserve we will hike up to its waterfall and swim in its fresh pools. Nearby we will stop at the Dead Sea for a swim and a lunch break and then drive to the southern end of Israel at the northern edge of the Red Sea.

Nov 20 (SUN)

This day is planned to be a full day tour to Petra, yet if due to COVID restriction it will be too difficult / impossible, we will have a snorkeling experience at the coral reef of the Red Sea combined with a tour to Timna, including a visit to the Timna Tabernacle model. We end the day with a 2 hours drive across the wilderness to the Ramon Crater.

Nov 21 (MON)

After a visit to Ramon Crater’s visitor center and a short stroll along its northern edge we head north through the Negev to Tel-Aviv. We could stop on the way to review significant biblical sites like Beer-Sheva, Lachish, or Beth-Shemesh, and passing by the airport we will set PCR tests (if still needed) before the departure on the following day.
