Jackie Tour Plan, June 2022

June 2 (THUR)

4:30 Arrival, Welcome to Israel! After collecting the luggage and PCR test you will head to the hotel in Tel-Aviv. Upon getting the PCR results, you could do some self-exploring  in Tel-Aviv.

June 3 (FRI)

Our first full day tour will be devoted to explore two major sites from Roman times – Caesarea and Beth-Shearim. Caesarea was a metropolis in the Roman and Byzantine periods, and a significant site also in the days of the Crusaders. We will admire the rich finds and assess the city’s role in local history. After a lunch break in the port we could visit the Ralli Museum, and then continue to the Necropolis of Beth-Shearim and reflect on the biography and legacy of R. Judah Hanassi. If time and will permit, we can also visit Tulip winery. Shabbath Shalom!

June 4 (SAT)

A day tour of the Golan Heights will begin with a panorama of the region from the top of Mount Bental. We will continue to an off-road tour along the Syrian border, and have a special lunch experience in a Druze home. We could end the day with a visit to a local winery, sampling some of the region’s best wines.

June 5 (SUN, Shavuot)

Heading back to the center we will sample some of the Historical sites around the Sea of Galilee, and driving through the Galilee we could stop for a visit in Nazareth. Upon reaching Jerusalem we will greet it “Shehecheyanu” from Mount of Olives and check in to your hotel.

June 6 (MON)

A full day Tour of Jerusalem’s old city will begin with a visit to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, continue along the “Stations of the Cross”, and on into the Muslim quarter and local market (Suq). After a light lunch break we will visit the plaza facing the Western Wall, and on along the highlights of the Jewish Quarter. If time and will permits, we could also visit some of the Holy Christian sites on Mount Zion before returning to the hotel.

June 7 (TUE)

A day tour Masada and the Dead Sea will begin with a scenic ride through the Judean Desert. Next to the Dead Sea we will stop to view the caves where the famous Dead Sea Scrolls were found and assess their significance. Later we will drive through Ein-Gedis’ Nature reserve, and reaching Masada we will take the cable car up to its summit and review the remains of the great drama that once took place here. For lunch and a swim at the Dead Sea we will continue to Herod’s hotel. Relax and rejuvenated we will then head back to Jerusalem.

June 8 (WED)

Checking out, we will have a guided tour at Israel’s national memorial of the Holocaust – Yad Vashem. Later we will drive in the Judean Foothills and sample some of the significant archaeological sites in the Shephela, ending in Tel-Aviv.

June 9 (THUR)

Eager to understand better Israel’s current security challenges we will drive south of Tel-Aviv to the border with Gaza. At Tel-ashkelon we will hike along the site’s cliffs and review its main archaeological finds. Nearby, in Kibbutz Yad Mordechai, we will learn about the heroic battle of the kibbutz against the Egyptian army. For lunch we will head to Sderot where will also learn about daily life around the Gaza strip is like.

June 10 (FRI)

Friday tour will combine Tel-Aviv’s historical site with its famous markets. We will start with a stroll along the alleys of ancient Jaffa, and continue on to the colorful Flea market. After some potential shopping and enjoying the live music we will continue to  Rothschild boulevard and appreciate the special history and architecture of this central part of Tel-Aviv. For lunch we will continue to the Carmel Market, and end the day with a tour of the bi-weekly Nahalat Binyamin art and crafts marketShabbath Shalom!

June 11 (SAT)

Shabbath will devoted to a review of the Israeli art scene with Israeli art scholar Dr. Sheffi. It will combine some art galleries, museum, and meeting artists in their workshops.

June 12 (SUN)

You last day of the tour is at your own leisure. Optional activities can include Israeli cooking workshop“the Squadron”Palmach Museum, and more.
