NOV 5 (FRI)

Arrival, WELCOME TO ISRAEL! Transfer to the hotel.

OPTION A – 4 days in Jordan

Nov. 7 (SUN)

  • Meeting the guide we head down to Eilat, driving through Beer-Sheva and the Ramon Crater.
  • In Ramon Crater we could stop for break and appreciate the breathtaking views of the Crater and desert landscapes.
  • Upon Reaching Eilat we cross the border, and with the Jordanian guide and driver proceed to Aqaba to the hotel.

Overnight: Al-Manara Hotel, Aqaba.

 

Nov. 8 (MON)

Overnight: Marriott Petra

 

Nov. 9 (TUE)

  • An early start will get us into Petra ahead of the crowds and the heat. We will walk along the gorge (Siq) up to the iconic “treasury” (Al-Khazaneh), and after a tea break continue to explore other royal tomb façades.
  • After a lunch break in the city center we could use a local carriage to get back to the entry point where we can appreciate the new museum of Petra, before heading back to Aqaba.

Overnight: Al-Manara, Aqaba.

 

Nov. 10 (WED)

  • A relaxed day at Al-Manara resort could be used to enjoy the resort’s facilities, as well as swim / Snorkel / Scuba dive at the Red Sea.
  • We could also go for a local tour of Aqaba‘s main archaeological and historical attractions – the Early Byzantine site where one of the earliest churches in Christian history was found, the Early-Muslim Fort remains, the Medieval castle, and one of the local mosques.

Overnight: Al-Manara, Aqaba.

 

Nov. 11 (Thur)

  • After breakfast we head back to the border and cross back into Israel.
  • We head to Tel-Aviv with an optional stop at Timna and the Tabernacle replica model on the way.

OPTION B – 4 nights in Ramon Crater and Eilat

If due to the pandemic crossing into Jordan will not be possible we could settle for 4 nights of exploring Israel Southern end, with the following schedule:

 

Nov. 7 (SUN)

  • Drive down from Tel-Aviv to Beer-Sheva, and tour Tel-Sheva, Abraham’s Well, and possibly join a tour at the Israeli Air-force museum.
  • Continue to Sde Boker and visit Israel’s first PM, Ben-Gurion, Desert home. We could also pay tribute to Ben-Gurion’s legacy by a visit to his tomb at the hill overlooking Nahal Zin.

Overnight: Sde Boker or Ramon Crater.

 

Nov. 8 (MON)

Overnight: Sde Boker or Ramon Crater.

 

Nov. 9 (TUE)

  • Driving through the Ramon crater we will make a stop at the nature reserve of Timna, where we could appreciate the unique geo-morphological features such as “Solomon’s pillars”, the “Mushroom”, and “The Marlboro arch”.
  • We could also set a guided tour at the Tabernacle Replica, learning about its significant role during the Israelites wondering through the desert for 40 years.

Overnight: Eilat.

 

Nov. 10 (WED)

  • A day in Eilat can be used for various water sports activities, and especially snorkeling or scuba diving in the local coral reef and among tropical fish.
  • We could also go for a tour of Eilat’s underwater observatory, or an off-road drive in Eilat’s mountains.

Overnight: Eilat.

 

Nov. 11 (THUR)

A drive back to Tel-Aviv

Nov. 12 (FRI) – Tel-Aviv markets.

Day tour of Jaffa, and Tel-Aviv Friday markets: Carmel Maret, the flea Market and Nahalat Benjamim market.

Overnight: Sheraton, Tel-Aviv

 

Nov. 13 (SAT) – Day tour of Caesarea and Haifa

  • Visit the rich archaeological remains of Roman-era Metropolis Caesarea Maritima.
  • See the city’s well-preserved Theatre, and Herod’s palace, and visit the possible site of Paul’s prison.
  • Enjoy a coffee break in Caesarea’s old port.
  • Drive up the picturesque Carmel mountains and have a lunch experience in one of the Druze villages.
  • Visit the site related with Elijah’s confrontation with the Ba’al prophets (I Kings 18).
  • Drive into Haifa to appreciate the famous view of Haifa’s Bahai Gardens.
  • Drive back to Tel-Aviv along the coastal highway.

Nov 14 (SUN) – Day tour of Jaffa and Tel-Aviv

  • Stroll along the cobbled stone alleys of Old Jaffa.
  • See the site associated with Peter’s vision in Jaffa (Acts 10).
  • Continue to Jaffa’s old port, its historical clocktower roundabout, and stroll along the Flea market.
  • A light Shakshuka lunch break at Dr. Shakshuka, followed by a drive to Rothschild boulevard.
  • Stop in front of Independence Hall and review the May 14th 1948 event of establishing the state of Israel.
  • Continue to the site of Rabin’s Assassination.
  • Optional tour of the Palmach Museum.

Overnight: Sheraton, Tel-Aviv

 

Nov 15 (MON) – Day tour of Ascalon and around Gaza Strip

  • Visit the ruins of the ancient coastal city of Ashkelon, a major city in Canaanite, Philistine, Roman and Crusaders’ times.
  • Continue to Yad-Mordechai and learn about the Kibbutz that resisted the Ecyptian army attack in 1948.
  • Continue to Sderot and experience life around the border of Gaza.
  • Hummus lunch break in Sderot.
  • Reach Netiv Ha’asarah and learn about the “Path the Peace” project.

Overnight: Sheraton, Tel-Aviv

 

Nov 16 (TUE) – Day tour of the Shephelah

  • Drive to “Biblical Tuscany”, a scenic region full of vineyards, archaeological sites, and pastoral landscaped.
  • Explore biblical Lachish and learn about the great drama of its destruction in 701 BCE by the Sennacherib.
  • Continue to the battle site of David and Goliath and its view from Tel Azeqah.
  • After a lunch break continue to Tel Beth-Shemesh and learn about the site where the Ark of the Covenant was kept.
  • Join a tour at Khan Shaar Hagai, followed by a drive along sections of the 1948 “Burma Road“.
  • Visit Emmaus, the site where Jesus appeared after his resurrection (Luke 23).

Nov 17 (WED) – Tour of Nazareth and Cana

  • Check out and head to the Galilee.
  • Tour Tel Megiddo, a biblical site equated with apocalyptic Armageddon.
  • Reach Nazareth and embark on a tour by foot to its main attractions: Church of the Annunciation, the Synagogue-church, the old city, and Mary’s Well.
  • Arab style BBQ Lunch break in Nazareth
  • Drive on to Cana and visit the “Wedding church” believed to be where Jesus turned water into wine (John 2).

Nov 18 (THUR) – Tour around the Sea of Galilee

Nov 19 (FRI) – Tour of the Golan Heights

  • Ascend to the top of Mount Bental and appreciate the panoramic views of the Golan and Syria.
  • Embark on a 2 hour off-road tour along the Syrian border with a local geo-politics expert.
  • Enjoy a special lunch break in the home of Naseeba in the Druze village of Buqaata.
  • Optional visit to a local winery and distillery.
  • Drive back to Tel-Aviv for the Weekend

Nov 20 (SAT) – Day off in Tel-Aviv

  • A day off in Tel-Aviv to relax, absorb the special ambience of Shabbath in Israel and enjoy the beach.
  • I requested, several local activities will be suggested.

Nov 21 (SUN) – Jerusalem’s old City.

Nov 22 (MON) – Day Tour of the Dead Sea.

  • Travel through the Judean Desert towards Jericho and the western shores of the Dead Sea.
  • View the caves where the famous Dead Sea Scrolls were found, at Qumran.
  • Drive through the oasis of Eingedi, appreciating the special local wildlife of this region.
  • Reach the summit of Masada by Cable car and explore this significant and dramatic archaeological site.
  • Go for a swim at the Dead Sea and a lunch at one of the Dead Sea hotels. Relaxed, rejuvenated, and tired, we return to Jerusalem.

NOV 23 (TUE) – Western Jerusalem

  • Join a guided tour at the national monument in memory of the Holocaust – Yad Vashem.
  • Continue to Mount Herzl, reviewing the national leader’s cemetery, with an optional visit to Herzl Museum.
  • Visit the Church of JOHN BAHARIM commemorating by local tradition the birthplace of John the Baptist, followed by lunch in a local restaurant.
  • Optional visit to the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem.
