5-Day Christian-Themed Private Tour of Jerusalem

Walking with Christ in the Eternal City

Jerusalem is the heart of Christian faith, where the ministry, passion, and resurrection of Jesus Christ are remembered at every corner. On this 5-day private pilgrimage, you will follow in the footsteps of the Savior, visiting sacred churches, biblical landmarks, and remarkable archaeological sites. Each day blends scripture, history, and reflection, offering an experience that deepens understanding and strengthens faith. From the Mount of Olives to the Garden Tomb, from the Temple Mount to the Baptism Site, this journey is designed to be transformative and unforgettable.

Day 1: The Mount of Olives and the Garden of Gethsemane

Start your journey at the Chapel of the Ascension, recalling the moment when Jesus rose into heaven (Acts 1:9–12), leaving behind His promise to return. Nearby, the Pater Noster Church presenting the Lord’s Prayer in dozens of languages, uniting Christians worldwide through the words Jesus taught (Matthew 6:9–13). At Bethphage, remember the triumphal entry, where Jesus mounted a donkey before entering Jerusalem on Palm Sunday (Matthew 21:1–11). Continue to the Mount of Olives viewpoint, where the sweeping panorama reveals the Temple Mount and the Old City. Beneath it, visit the Tomb of the Prophets, linked to Haggai, Zechariah, and Malachi, and pause at the Dominus Flevit Church, where Jesus wept over Jerusalem (Luke 19:41–44).

Further below, admire the golden domes of the Mary Magdalene Church, honoring the devoted disciple who first witnessed the resurrection. Next, enter the Garden of Gethsemane, with its ancient olive trees recalling the Savior’s anguished prayer (Luke 22:39–46). Step into the adjacent Grotto of Gethsemane, traditionally marking where His disciples kept watch. Nearby is Mary’s Tomb, revered by Eastern Christians as the resting place of the Virgin. Crossing the Kidron, continue to the site of St. Stephen’s martyrdom, where the first Christian martyr was stoned (Acts 7:54–60). Further south, reach the Kidron Valley monumental tombs of the Second Temple era line the hillside. Conclude the day with prayer and reflection at the Garden Tomb, a peaceful setting for contemplating the death and resurrection of the Lord.

Day 2: Mount Zion and the Jewish Quarter

Start at the Room of the Last Supper, where Jesus instituted the sacrament (Luke 22:19–20), and beneath it, visit the traditional tomb of King David. Nearby, reach Mary’s Rest Place, a site recalling her final days, which also marks the Pentecost site, the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles (Acts 2:1–4). Continue to the Church of St. Peter in Gallicantu, where Peter denied Jesus three times before the rooster crowed (Luke 22:54–62). Next, enter the Jewish Quarter, where the Cardo, the Roman-era street, stretches through shops and archaeological remains.

Pass by the rebuilt Hurva Synagogue, a powerful symbol of Jewish restoration, and at the Herodian Quarter, explore a priestly mansion, perhaps where Caiaphas interrogated Jesus. Then walk to the Western Wall, where Jews pray at the last remnant of the Temple Mount, and consider joining a tour of the Western Wall Tunnels, where massive stonework from Herod’s Temple is preserved.

Day 3: The Passion in the Old City

At its northern end are the Pools of Bethesda, recalling Jesus’ healing of the paralyzed man (John 5:1–9). Next, visit the Praetorium, traditionally identified as the place of Jesus’ trial before Pontius Pilate (John 18:28–40), and join the Via Dolorosa, retracing the Stations of the Cross. Pause at the Alexander Nevsky Church, which possibly preserves part of the ancient city wall, before arriving at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, venerated as the site of the crucifixion, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Day 4: Ancient Foundations and Ein Karem

Continue to the City of David, the oldest part of Jerusalem, where kings once ruled and prophets preached. Adventurous visitors may walk through Hezekiah’s Tunnel, carved to secure water for the city during siege, before emerging at the Pool of Siloam, where Jesus healed the blind man (John 9:1–11).

Spend the afternoon at the Israel Museum, home to the Dead Sea Scrolls and the famous model of Second Temple Jerusalem. Conclude the day in Ein Karem, the picturesque hill town traditionally associated with the home of Zacharias and Elisabeth, and the birthplace of John the Baptist (Luke 1:57–66). Churches here recall the birth of John, and the visitation of Mary to Elisabeth, when the unborn John leaped with joy.

Day 5: The Wilderness and the Dead Sea

Leave Jerusalem and drive east through the Judean desert. Pause at the Good Samaritan Inn, recalling the parable of mercy told by Jesus (Luke 10:25–37). Continue to the Jordan River baptismal site, where John baptized and where Jesus entered the waters of obedience (Matthew 3:13–17). This is a powerful place for prayer and reflection on the meaning of baptism. Nearby, visit Qumran, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were preserved for centuries in desert caves, providing unique insights into Jewish life at the time of Jesus.

Consider an optional swim in the Dead Sea, floating in its salt-rich waters, before continuing to the Saint George Monastery lookout, a dramatic desert setting clinging to cliffs above Wadi Qelt. End the day at the Jericho lookout from Mount Cypros, where Herod’s desert palace once stood, offering sweeping views of the world’s oldest city and the Jordan Valley.
