Israel’s Historical Introduction
Israel’s history is complex and turbulent. The biblical narrative portrays Israel as the Promised Land, reigned by kingdoms and focused around the temple in Jerusalem. For Christians Israel is the Holy Land, sacred through the life and teachings of Jesus. Islam too claims for its sanctity since the 7th century. In the 20th Century the Jews reclaimed Israel as a Jewish nation, leading the land into unprecedented economic growth, despite repeated conflicts with its Arab neighebors.
