The Experience of Resurrection: A New Multimedia Journey Through the Holy Sepulchre
The Christian Information Center (CIC) in Jerusalem has launched a new extraordinary multimedia exhibition on its premise “The Experience of Resurrection”. This unique multimedia presentation explores the death and resurrection of Jesus, and the aftermath of the site. Organized under the supervision of the Franciscan Friars of the Custody of the Holy Land, the exhibition offers a profound encounter with the historical, spiritual, and theological dimensions of this sacred story.
Born from Pilgrims’ Questions
The exhibition was inspired by questions from pilgrims visiting Jerusalem. These visitors come from diverse cultures and denominations but share a desire to understand the mystery of Christ’s resurrection. This immersive experience was created to address their questions, aspirations, and deepen their connection to this sacred event.
Bridging Past and Present
Although we cannot see Jerusalem as it was in Christ’s time, historical and archaeological studies provide valuable insights. Through the use of advanced technologies such as virtual reality and projection mapping, the exhibition vividly reconstructs key moments in the story of Jesus. This includes virtual scenes from the Garden of Gethsemane, Golgotha, the tomb, and more.
Immersive Technologies for Spiritual Connection
The exhibition guides visitors through an interactive journey that recreates the historical and spiritual essence of Jesus’ final days. Technologies like virtual reality, light projections, and multimedia storytelling transport participants to key moments in the life of Christ.
The exhibition also links the events of Christ’s life with the current experience of the Basilica of the Holy Sepulchre. Many visitors find the basilica’s complexity puzzling. Questions often arise: Where is Calvary? What is the significance of the small building inside? Why do different Christian traditions coexist, sometimes in tension? The Multimedia presentations help visitors navigate these questions, providing clarity and context to appreciate this sacred space fully.
A Call to Pilgrimage and Evangelization
The Exhibition of the Holy Sepulchre” is more than a historical recounting. It is a spiritual pilgrimage inviting participants to reflect on the profound truths of the resurrection. Visitors are encouraged to ponder the ultimate question: “Where is my Lord?” The answer lies within each person. After engaging with the resurrection story, visitors are inspired, like the Apostles, to go forth and share the Gospel.
The exhibition runs daily at the CIC, and tickets can be purchased on-site or online. A visit to the CIC can be combined in a day tour of Jerusalem, or a multi-day tour of the Holy Land.
