Al-Aqsa Mosque (Arabic – “The Farthest mosque”) is by Muslim tradition next to the place where Muhammad ascended to heaven to get the prayers of Islam (“Dome of the Rock”).
The first mosque was built at the site in 705 CE, and the current mosque is preserving some of the Crusaders’ architecture, who believed the mosque to be “Templum Solomoni” (“Solomon’s Temple”).
Since 2000 entry to the mosque is forbidden for non Muslim.
