Arrive in Jerusalem and ascend the Mount of Olives, where Jesus taught, prayed, and wept over the city. Conclude at the Garden of Gethsemane, beneath ancient olive trees recalling Jesus’ final night of prayer. Reflect on obedience, sacrifice, and love at one of Christianity’s most moving holy places.
Start with a visit to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, one of the holiest sites in Christianity, which marks the places of Jesus’ crucifixion, burial, and resurrection. Continue by following the Via Dolorosa, the historic route that marks the path Jesus walked to his crucifixion. Head on to the Western Wall, a remnant of the Second Temple, and through the Jewish Quarter to Mount Zion. Conclude the day at the Room of the Last Supper, and Dormition Abbey which mark the event of the Pentecost and Mary’s resting place.
Descend through the stunning landscapes of the Judean Desert reach the Jordan River Baptism site. By local tradition, this is where the Israelites crossed into the Promised Land, and centuries later Jesus was baptized. Explore this significant historical site with the option of participating in a baptism ceremony. Nearby, visit Qumran to learn about the fascinating Dead Sea Scrolls and their impact on early Christianity. You may also consider a swim at the Dead Sea. After a lunch break return to Jerusalem to visit the Garden Tomb. A representative of the site will lead you through the site and reflect on the death and resurrection of Jesus. The peaceful surroundings of the garden are also ideal to end the day with prayer and contemplation.
