“Chamber of the Holocaust” was Israel’s first Holocaust museum, created on Mount Zion in the 1950s. The inner exhibition presents salvaged artifacts from the Holocaust.
The main memorial, in the courtyard, is display of hundreds of plaques, each in memory of one of the thousands Jewish Communities who perished in the Holocaust.
Although today most visit the National Holocaust Museum “Yad Vashem” , the “Chamber of the Holocaust” has special value in showing Jewish Orthodox attitude to the subject, and the national attitude towards the Holocaust in its early years.
For a full appreciation of the site it is recommended to combine it with a guided day tour of Jerusalem.
