An elaborate system of water supply to Caesarea in Roman and Byzantine times is mostly famous for the last part of “Aquaduct A” and “Aquaduct B” built parallel to the coast line, on a set of arches. About 500 m of these aquaducts were uncovered in the 1960’s and are a popular tourists attraction. Aqueduct B bears 11 inscriptions attesting to maintanaince work in the time of Emperror Hadrian (117-138 CE). Aqueduct A was constructed sometime earlier.

A tour of Caesarea’s ancient aquducts is a great way to start, or end, a tour of ancient Caesarea. It is also one of the most beautiful locations along Israel’s coastline.

A tour of Caesarea’s aquaduct can be combined with a tour of Caesarea and other sites in its vicinity.
