The Herodian Quarter an area exposed in the Jewish quarter after the Six Days war, in 1967. The site proved to be very rich in finds, mostly from the First Century CE. The evidence suggest that this was the area where Jewish priests resided in the time of the Temple. In fact, one of the properties may have been the mansion of the High Priest Caiaphas, and maybe this is where he interrogated Jesus.
Sadly, the finds were discovered in a clear layer of destruction. This is most likely evidence of the Roman destruction of Jerusalem in 70 CE.
