kol shofar

Established in 1998, ‘Kol Shofar’ (from Hebrew: Sound of the Ram’s horn) is the vision of Shimon Keinan, a Moroccan Jew who combined his childhood blowing shofar talent with his mechanical skills.  Operating in a workshop in the Golan Heights, Shimon produces Shofarot in traditional and new special techniques that he developed. Realizing the public interest in his work, Shimon invites families and groups to participate in session where they learn and participate in the manufacturing of a shofar. The activity begins with a study session of how to blow the shofar, and how to tell a kosher Shofar. It continues in his workshop, where with wit humor the group is introduced to all stages of turning a Ram’s horn into a Shofar. This activity is highly recommended for anyone interested in learning about biblical rituals and is a perfect activity to combine in a Bar-Mitzvah tour in Israel. The site operates Sunday through Thursday, and Friday morning. It is recommended to call in advance.

A tour of ‘Kol Shofar’ can be combined with multi-day tour in Israel that will include exploring the Golan Heights.
