“Al-Khazneh” (The Treasury”) is the nickname in Arabic given by local bedouins to the most elaborate and ornate structure of Petra
. It is located at the end of a 1.2 km walk through a gorge (the “Siq”
), and its size and state of preservation is mind blowing. It was probably a facade of royal tombs, either from Nabatean times, or Roman era. Its unique desgins combines elemnts of Greek, Roman, Nabatean, Egyptian, and Syrian architectures. It is one of the most iconic buildings from Classical times.
Book a Private Tour to Petra
Petra is in the southern part of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. It is about 2 hours drive from the Israeli border crossing near Eilat
, and takes 3-4 hours to explore. Entry into Jordan also requires setting a visa.
I recommend to contact me for a proposal of a full day tour of Petra
, with an optional visit also to Wadi Rum
.
