The Creation of Mary of Nazareth International Center
On the turn of the 21st century the French religious community of Chemin Neuf purchased an Ottoman era building in the heart of Nazareth, next to the Church of the Annunciation. Archaeological excavations at the base of the building yielded remains of a home from the time of Jesus. Comprising two room and a cistern, this is first scientific testimony to Jewish life in Nazareth in the first century. Furthermore, being so close to the church of the Annunciation, it is possible that Jesus familiar with this house, and perhaps even visited it. Opened in 2011, the center incorporated the archaeological finds in its ground floor, and it invites visitors to see and appreciate them. It also welcomes all to a 55-minute innovative presentation, set in 4 halls, on the life of Virgin Mary.
