Garden Tomb

garden tomb jerusalemThe Garden Tomb  is a site near Damascus gate in Jerusalem, identified in the past to be an alternative site of the crucifixion, death, burial and resurrection of Jesus.

Suggested first in 1883 by General Charles Gordon it is also known as “Gordon’s Calvary“, and since 1894 it is operated by the “The Committee of the Garden Tomb (Jerusalem) Association” whose center is in London.

Despite recent research which seem to contradict the possibility the site is indeed the Golghota and the burial site of Jesus, the Garden Tomb is still visited by many, mostly Protestants, who prefer contamplating on the passion of Jesus here and not at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre .
