Via Dolorosa

via dolorosa stations of cross The Via Dolorosa (Latin “Way of suffering” or “Way of grief”) is a street in the old city of Jerusalem believed to be the path Jesus walked, carrying his cross, from the place of his trial (the “Praetorium”) to the place of his crucifixion (the “Golgotha”).

via dolorosaCatholic tradition places 14 stations (“The stations of the Cross”) along this 600 m (2000 feet) path.

It runs through the Muslim and the Christian quarters and is visited by thousands of pilgrims and tourist on daily basis.
