Sheinkin Street

Formed in 1913 as an area of small-scale industries, Sheinkin Street shined in the 1980s as a trendy and bohemian neighborhood. Its special character was immortalized in the Hebrew pop song Living in Sheinkin.

Ever since, “Shenkinai” is popular Israeli term for individuals living an artsy and secular lifestyle.

Iconic Tamar Café has since closed, but the street retained well its special ambience and unique shops.

When is the best time to visit?

The street is idealy located between the popular Carmel Market and Rothschild Boulevard. It is especially popular on Fridays with local shoppers, often accompanied by live music, alcohol, and dancing.

A visit to the Sheinkin Street can be combined with a guided day tour of Jaffa and Tel-Aviv.
