Start your day early, as the journey from Eilat to Petra takes time, and make sure to have your passport and comfortable walking shoes. Once you cross the border you’ll be greeted by the Jordanian guide who will arrange the 2 hour drive to Petra. Upon arrival, he will take you through the famous Siq, a narrow, winding canyon leading to the iconic Treasury (Al Khazane) monument. You’ll then pass by the royal tombs and Petra’s theatre and finally reach the city center. The first stop will be Yad Mordechai, a Kibbutz conquered by the Egyptians in 1948 after intense fighting, but later liberated by Israel. Next will be Sderot, the closest town to the Gaza border.
